My greatgandfather was James Lynn Hemeon (one m) mentioned in the story. We still have the bravery medal presented to him. He died young himself, in a train crash in Florida.
Interesting to see something about the building of the Arlington.

I was looking for info on the Arlington. My great grandfather, Daniel Webster Newcomb, of Weymouth North, Digby County, NS, was the builder of the Arlington. My brother, Robert Taylor, of Bowser, BC, has the (derelict) ships model of the Arlington, the original model built by our great grandfather. What a great story of her brave rescue of the crew of the Countess of Dufferin. My brother also has a newspaper article account of the same story.
What a small world with modern communications. Any other history of the Arlington would be appreciated. Thanks, Christina Bruce.
